Last chance to enter the London Duathlon in Richmond Park on 13th September. Entries close on 30th August.  If you’ve never done a multisport event this is a good introduction and happens to be the largest in the world.  For more entries and info see www.thelondonduathlon.com

Record turnout for Wedding Day Race!

Twelve runners from our Club participated in the ‘event of the year’, which would have been 14 barring injuries and absence. The men’s team finished in the top half of the Club event, both of which we believe are firsts for the Club, and demonstatrates our growing ambition. Results to follow shortly.

Michel writes with more details about the Rennes event. If you are interested in coming, please contact Michel directly on m.serre@laposte.net :

The races are in Sunday 11th October in Rennes. The name of this event is ‘TOUT RENNES COURT‘ (everybody in Rennes run)
* the start of the10km is at 10am
* the start of the half-marathon is at 11am.

In 2008, there were 4 183 runners for the 10km and 3 284 for the half-marathon. You can see the results on this website (http://www.trc.rennes.fr). In the afternoon, there are also a race with the best runners of Kenya, Ethiopia, Marrocco…and a few French!

The registrations for the races are free. It’s organised by the city of Rennes. We have only to supply a register form and a GP’s certificate (this certificate is necessary in France for all the races. The certificate mention that the man or the he woman can practise the running in competition). I am in contact with an organizer of the races because I worked for the city of Rennes. He can send me the register forms and it would be better if I post all the registers with the certificates. For the certificate, it will be necessary to translate in a good English the French words. I can see this with Ben because he run the Paris’marathon and he had need a certificate.

For the transport :
* there is an airport at Dinard (69km of Rennes) with Ryan Air but after  there are not buses or train from Dinard to Rennes.
* We can arrive with the train. For example :
Saturday 10th October : EUROSTAR (http://www.eurostar.com) Depart London 9h00 / Arrive Paris Gare du Nord 12h17
underground from Gare du Nord to Gare Montparnasse (line 4 in direction of Porte d’Orléans) 40′
SNCF (http://www.voyages-sncf.com) Depart Paris Montparnasse 14h05 / Arrive Rennes 16h19

Sunday 11th October : SNCF Depart Rennes 17h15 / Arrive Paris 19h10
underground
EUROSTAR Depart Paris 20h43 / Arrive Londres 21h59

If we are many people who want take the same train I can see with EUROSTAR or SNCF for booking (I can see this with my wife Anne-Véronique!!)

* and if some people want to go with the ferry, the closer harbour from Rennes is Saint-Malo.

For the accomodation :

I think it will be not a problem to organise the accomodation with my friends. When I was in Brittany I run with OUEST ATHLETISME 35. It’s a friendly Club close Rennes (15km) and I am sure that I can  find people who will be happy to receive us.
We can also book a French restaurant for Saturday evening.

I come back in London on 23th August and I promise you that I ‘ll read regularly my mails.
If you are more questions, don’t hesitate …
